After much frustration with clouds hanging right over the moon, it cleared up just as totality came! We were giving up, but the key was putting the 12 inch scope back in the truck. Literally the minute I put the scope up into the bed, the sky cleared! The weather gods were pleased with my sacrifice, as apparently my telescope density was too high.
